Hello, I was wondering if anyone could link me to a site that may
offer a Girl Scout patch for Letterboxing? My troop is giving a
teaching seminar on geocaching and letterboxing and would like to be
able to offer a patch but, to date, I haven't found a council that
offers one. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Cindy

cub scouts might be a good resource. One of our local
cub scout leaders is an avid letterboxer and I believe
has incorporated in to the scouting experiences. See

I believe that there is a new IP badge for older GScouts called High Tech Treasure Hunting.
Its for Letterboxing and geocaching. Funguswoman, Pippin and/or Jacks should be able to
comment more .....

When I did it with my Cub Scouts, I just bought them the LbNA patch. I
think I've also seen scouting/letterboxing patches on Ebay.

I would be interested in hearing about letterboxing and the Girl Scouts.
There was a great workshop on letterboxing, orienteering and geocaching at
my leaders weekend two weekends ago. I was inspired to find out more about
it! There are several letterboxing sites in my local area that I think my
Junior scouts would like to visit.
Perhaps if there are several Girl Scout leaders out there we can develop a
"councils own" badge. This is definitely a Junior level or beyond badge,
with making a stamp, finding a box, and hopefully making one of our own.
If you are Girl Scout troop leader, I'd love to hear from you about your
experiences with letterboxing with your troop!

I know (from a local news letter) that the Girl Scout troop in Lebanon, CT,
had a badge for letterboxing last year. The following is the information to
contact the Girl Scouts Connecticut Trails Council. Perhaps they can
provide information regarding that badge.

I am a brand new Brownie leader and would love to do this some day with my
troop. Where did you take this training? I am in upstate NY and haven't seen
anything like that offered here.
